Acknowledgment of Country

Where we learn, work, play, and grow is on Kaurna Land.

Our farm has been here for over 150 years. But before this what were the First Peoples doing on this land, on Country?

Perhaps they, like us, were gathering to celebrate the turning of the season, to share stories, dance, sing, share food, making connections between people and place?

What was their life like before settlers displaced them, often brutally and with no regard for their culture and sovereignty?

We acknowledge these people, the Kaurna people. We acknowledge the changes forced upon their way of life. We acknowledge the Ancestors, the creator beings, We acknowledge those who lived here first and still do and their continuing connection to Country. They are the Traditional owners of this land.

May we listen to their stories, learn from their culture and the way they lived on and related to Country. May we discover through this and through our own efforts a way of living that is respectful of and in balance with the natural world and the creative forces behind it.
